TEDxUGA 2015

In March 2015 I had the privilege to speak at TEDxUGA on the topic of tipping points in infectious diseases. My talk — the Jenga theory of epidemics — was about the insights this child’s game provides into understanding the dynamics of emerging pathogens. The game is also a picture of collective action — a problem which has to be overcome if surveillance systems for emerging pathogens are to move beyond “detection and response” to prediction and early warning.

The whole talk is available to view on YouTube.
