Anticipating Emerging and Re-emerging Outbreaks

Project AERO is an NIH-funded collaboration that seeks to develop new data science tools for predicting emerging infectious diseases before they become a crisis.

Project AERO is based on the theory of critical slowing down, which holds that dynamical systems on the verge of a critical transition exhibit certain universal properties. We believe these properties might be harnessed to develop early warnings systems for disease emergence.

For more information on project outcomes see the AERO publications page.
